My Definition of Success – Fulfillment of Potential

Potential Energy

As a student I loved physics. Being curious minded, I loved how it explained how the world functioned around me. As a student of science i was fascinated by the concept of potential energy. That invivible store of power waiting to be acted upon. The energy exists, full of possibility, but until it’s acted upon, nothing moves. It’s a perfect metaphor for human potential. We all carry immense energy, talent, creativity, and drive within us. But unless we choose to tap into it—unless we exert willpower and intention—that energy remains dormant. Wasted.

My Idea of Success

As a child success was defined for me by my family, teachers, coaches and the media. But today, success isn’t just about accolades or outcomes—it’s about alignment. It’s about tapping into the inner power and manifesting the visions and desires that live deep within us. That, to me, is true fulfillment.

When we act on what we feel called to create or pursue we are using our potential (energy). Whether it’s the discipline of exercise, a new project, or the courage to share our voice with the world—we are proving to ourselves what we’re capable of (kinetic energy).

It’s not just about physical health. It’s about witnessing your own strength. It’s the feeling of showing up for yourself and realizing that your body can do more than you thought possible. The urge to create art, build a business, writing to express, being able to focus for longer duration and finish tasks – all of that isn’t just about output. It’s about self-discovery.

The real flex is when you ambitions start to take shape in front of you and your vision becomes real. Because in that moment, you’re not only proud of what you’ve made, you’re proud of who you’ve become in the process.

In essence, becoming more of who you truly are by courageously bringing your inner vision to life – that is my definition of success.

Define your own success

Success is deeply personal. Here are some tips from me to define what success means to you:

  • Distinguish Between External & Internal Validation – Ask yourself why you’re pursuing something? Is it because it’s your dream or because it looks good to others?
  • What matters to you – What is that thing that you think is absolutely true/ wonderful/ right thing to do but others don’t necessarily see it that way? For me it is mastering focus and working on my spiritual awakening. I’m aware that these are not conventional benchmarks of being a successful person but these are some of the things that bring me fulfillment.
  • Create a Personal Success Statement – Write what success truly means to you, beyond society’s expectations, job titles, or income brackets. This statement becomes your internal compass.

Think about it

Is there something that makes you feel fulfilled which is not conventionally viewed as being successful in the external world?
