REFERENCE sheet: 7 Steps to Being Present and Staying there

Following on from last few blogposts, I felt a strong urge to put together a quick reference sheet. Anytime you find yourself drifting away from the present moment, just refer to this simple and practical guide.

I highly recommend printing it out and placing it somewhere visible – on your fridge, mirror, desk, or even inside your planner/ diary. So here it is:

7 Steps to Being Present and Staying There

  1. Recognize the Distraction (Recognize without Judgment)
  2. Reset with a Pause (Focus on the Breath)
  3. Identify the Resistance (What are you fighting in the moment?)
  4. Acknowledge the Resistance (Name the feeling)
  5. Accept the Resistance (Sit with it, however uncomfortable)
  6. Gently bring back attention to task at hand (“Let’s try again”)
  7. Set a Daily Intention – (Let this intention drive how you meet the moment)
