Mirabai’s love, pure and divine
A melody soft, a sacred sign
Of rapture, calm and deep devotion
She stood in love – pure dedication.
Her heart unchained, her soul set free
A song of beauty, love’s decree
With every note, with every prayer
She wore devotion in the air.
But dark and vile, the queen of hate
With venom spun a twisted fate
Her touch inspired wretched sound
Discord spread where she was found.
While Mirabai in love would kneel
The evil queen sought power’s zeal
Cheap tricks, insults and humiliation – her weapons wielded
Yet love’s light she never yielded
Mirabai’s heart shone bright – a tale for ages
A story etched in time on sacred pages
The entitled queen, lost in bitter strife
A prisoner of her soulless life.
Such was the tale of two lovers,
So far apart
One a hymn, the other dark.
One a flower, the other a shark
